Vertikal Verschlüsse – Falling- and Vertical breech block

The Vertikal Verschlüsse – Falling- and Vertical breech block is also known as the Falling block. The vertical breech moves vertically up- and down inside the housing of the pistol and does not pivot. When the loading lever is actuated the vertical breech drops downwards, ejecting any empty case and allowing it to be loaded. In the reverse action, the breech is raised, locking the pistol and it is ready to fire. The breech can either house an internal or external firing hammer. (examples: Büchel Ideal, Stern)
